Bobbi Brown Love Letter, New Romantic, Spring Bliss Crushed Oil-Infused Glosses Reviews & Swatches

Published

Bobbi Brown Love Letter Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss ($27.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a medium pink with moderate, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had a jelly-cream look and feel to me, as the texture was plush and more gel-like without tackiness. The gloss spread evenly over my lips and delivered a semi-sheer tint, which was as expected. It didn’t smooth out my lip lines, but it didn’t seem like much product was in them either (I couldn’t tell in person). The color stayed on well for four hours and was hydrating over time.

  • NARS Pulsion (P, $26.00) is darker, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar).
  • Bobbi Brown Spring Bliss (P, $27.00) is cooler (90% similar).
  • Chanel Sibylla (786) (LE, $30.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar).
  • Colour Pop Boo (LE, $6.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar).
  • Colour Pop Crushin’ (LE, $6.00) is darker, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar).
  • Jouer Rodeo (P, $17.00) is darker (85% similar).
  • MAC Nutty & Naughty (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, more pigmented (85% similar).
  • Pat McGrath Aphrodisiac (P, $30.00) is more pigmented, warmer (85% similar).
  • Pat McGrath Belladonna (P, $30.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar).
  • Hourglass Canvas (P, $30.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar).

Formula Overview

$27.00/0.2 oz. – $135.00 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be “ultra-shiny” (it is) with a “cushiony, comfy feel” (nailed it) that has a “burst of color” (sheer to medium coverage) that is “ultra-hydrating.” It has more of a smooth, gel-like texture, which is where it gets that “cushiony, comfy feel,” and it spread easily over my lips and felt comfortable to wear.

There was a strong shine that lingered for two to three hours during wear with shades lasting, generally, between three and five hours overall (with reduced shine toward the end). Some shades had slight to light product that sank into my lip lines, but the higher-shine finish made that less noticeable in person. The formula felt hydrating over time, and they had a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste.

Bobbi Brown New Romantic Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss ($27.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a light-medium pink with muted, moderate warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had sheer to semi-sheer color payoff in a single layer, which was in line with the way it was marketed. The texture was lightweight, spreadable, and comfortable to wear as it felt plush and more like a cream-gel hybrid.

There was a touch of product that sank into my lip lines, though, and the lighter, milkier quality of the color emphasized the unevenness of my natural lip color (any visible unevenness is primarily my fault due to the way my actual lips look under a sheerer color like this). It wore nicely for four hours and was moisturizing while worn.

  • Laura Mercier Sophia (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (95% similar).
  • MAC Nutty & Naughty (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar).
  • Hourglass Canvas (P, $30.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar).
  • MAC Told You So (LE, $17.50) is lighter, brighter, more pigmented (90% similar).
  • NARS Pulsion (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar).
  • MAC Candy Box (P, $17.50) is lighter, brighter (90% similar).
  • Pat McGrath Aphrodisiac (P, $30.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar).
  • NARS Xenon (P, $26.00) is darker, more pigmented, warmer (85% similar).
  • Colour Pop Crushin’ (LE, $6.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar).

Bobbi Brown Spring Bliss Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss ($27.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. Suit of the Week: Tailored by Rebecca Taylor

Published

on

By

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

I always like a classic navy suit, and I love the little details on this one — the crosshatching on the fabric, the slight puff to the sleeves, the modern take on the cropped, bootcut pants. The big patch pockets look nice and functional, and (huzzah!) everything is on sale at both Nordstrom and Rebecca Taylor. The jacket is $315, the pants are $195, and the dress (which is lovely but is long-sleeved, so it may be hard to layer under the blazer) is $285; all of the pieces were originally $325-$525.

Looking for a navy suit in plus sizes? I only just found this amazing navy skirt suit, but we may have to feature it next week because it’s gawrgeous. On the more affordable side of things, this pretty navy knit blazer and pants combo is available in regular and petites up to size 18.
